Apart from the discs, I think ours look very similar! I need some carbonara for the seatpost though. What year is yours? Looks a 98 or 99. We got the same bar and shifters lol.0
-
1999-2000 around that time' yeah spent a bit of coin on her.
running 160mm rotors at the mo do you know anyone getting rid of 180mm is-is adaptors
cheers paul..
by the way wot yr yours 92?0 -
Dunno about the adaptors, but CRC have them for 6 quid.
Mines a bit more modern than that lol, a 96 LE vintage - no disc mounts unfortunately. Actually you can get the date from the frame number - first 4 digits are month and year.0 -
still nice Zaskar though...
looked on CRC this morning could'nt see them on there i will have another gander on there site..
wot other mods you doing to the Zaskar then..0 -
Probably leaving how is for the time being, it's had a few changes over the years!0

Hiya Raceface GT,
Sorry for the late reply, Just caught your thread on a search.
Beautiful bike mate, just what I am looking to do.
I would like to build up a retro GT Zaskar racer for next summers season.
Have you had your Zaskar from new?
What size frame have you got there? The reason I ask is that I really need a 19" or 20" and the only ones that crop up on Ebay are 18". I'm beginning to think that 19" Zaskars don't exist!
All the best

They do, but only certain years. Also mid 90s Zaskars were measured to the middle of the top tube, not the full length of the seattube.
If in doubt, is stamped into the dropout, and genuine zaskar frame numbers allways start with the month and year of manufacture.0 -
Cheers Sonic, you dont know anyone thats selling a Zaskar do you?0
-
Not at the moment, but keep checking ebay, they keep coming up!0
-
One last question if you dont mind?
I am 5'11"-6'.
Do you think an 18" frame would be OK for me?0 -
It is what I use at 6ft - but many find them quite large for the size.0
-
Thanks mate,
Love your Zaskar too by the way!
What sort of riding do you do on her?
Are the decals on yours the originals?
Sorry for the questions, I really like the older Zaskar's!0 -
Has been through a few incarnations! Started as a mid weight trail bike in the 90s, then beefed up for a bit of AM stuff, now a lightweight XC steed at about 22.5lbs. Going to put a rigid on for winter.
Stickers are the right year, a 96, but originals were blue and yellow rather than the black and white.
Tough bike, lasted well!0 -
Sounds like a very versatile machine! I am aiming for a lightweight XC guise for racing next season.
Did you get your stickers from Ebay or Gil on Retrobike maybe?0 -
Guy on ebay called felzno, Is based in US, but has stock of original decals.0
-
Wicked, thanks for being so helpful and sorry for all the questions.
All the best.0 -
No probs, hope you find one!0
