So, he did well with his GC pick in the Giro this year with someone no one else went for.

Didn't he go for Andy Schleck in the same race last year?

Mystic powers, I tell thee.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

I am tranquilo. I train specifically for this race every year, and as Mr Kelly points out with the CSF boys, its amazing what you can do if you train to peak for one race.

Besides, its was a Giro with 4 (count 'em) TTs and he finished 8th last year whilst towing a second rate Cunego up every climb, so it wasn't rocket science. :D

Does that mean we can expect to see you disappear into the ether, only to return unexpectedly and suddenly win the Tour of Lombardy then?

Well, I had a pretty good run at last year's Tour with the wheelsucker so watch this space!
I have come to use PTP to choose somebody interesting to follow as I just can't bring myself to choose the likeliest winner. It means I actually cheered when Bruseghin came over the line only 3secs behind Pelizzotti rather than being bored stupid by Contador's win (which was pretty nailed on after the 1st ITT).

When was the last time a rider on a team won a GT GC but not a single stage for him or the team?

I reckon it's 1990 when Lemond and Z failed to win a stage of the Tour.

I'm pretty sure Angel Casero won the Vuelta in 2001 without winning a stage.

Yup Index failed to win a stage of the 2002 Giro when il Falco won and Festina didn't win a stage of the 2001 Vuelta when Casero won (forgot he wasn't at Kelme then!).

    So there we have it:
    2002 Giro
    2001 Vuelta
    1990 Tour
  • Is Evans next at the Tour to join this list?
