Northern Cyclone that day so I thought I'd give Northumberland a go - need more hills than the York/Selby loops out of Hillam allow if I'm to get to the summit of Hautacam!

I'll be there  , it's part of my longest ride of the year. Depending on the weather it will be Thirsk-Northallerton-Ripon-Wetherby-Filey Wetherby-Thirsk. If it's wet I'll miss out Northallerton and Ripon on the way out and just return direct to Thirsk. Minimum milage 150, max 200.
Saying that it's a really good day out, one that will not intimidate riders, with kids, big kids and even Great Grandkids taking part, organisation is good with drinks stops every 15 miles for those who want and a good lunch stop in Terrington. Only a couple of hills but don't underestimate them if you are a novice especcially Setterington which is longer than you think. Take a couple of coins with you as the home made cakes look to be back on at the final drinks stop, if I havn't pigged out on them on the way back.:lol:

I would say I'd see you there John, but if it's like last year they'll be far too many people to be able to find you!! :D

I'm riding Sherburn - Wetherby - Filey, so only about 90 miles.

Meeting my brother at Wetherby, he'll be cycling down from Knaresborough.

His wife, my wife and daughter are meeting us in Filey, so we'll be able to strap the bikes to the roof of her car and have a snooze on the way back!

My legs remember Setterington very well!

weather permitting yes . Quite distinctive. and I'll be on a bright Yellow Il Volpe (don't ask) . if it's wet and cold I'll be wearing a yellow night vision top and riding a Wight Kenesis Racelight.
Looking at your photo you should be fairly easy to spot

    :D

I'll be on my trusty SCR probably in a Black Assos top with Baby Blue Giro Helmet, if the weather isn't kind I'll mostly be wearing my Night Vision Yellow Jacket.

Looking forward to it immensely - it'll be good to ride with so many people again!

  • How did it go today then? hope you made it back ok

I did the Northern Rock Cyclone today which was enjoyable but not the same, I have done the GYBR for the last few years but now live to far away or should I say Filey is about 200 miles from home maybe if they made it a circular route or I was fit enough to cycle back to Wetherby.

Definitely missed the amazing lunch stop at Terrington that's for sure

This is me struggling up a hill during the WRC last Sunday :x

What a cracking day, well marshalled good food stops and exellent company. What more could you ask for (apart from 5 degrees C)
Yes, I did the 200 in 15 1/2 hours and No I won't be doing it again

Cumbriamike. If you can do rides like the WRC you are easily capable of the GYBR and return.
