Shimano sora rear mech on mountain bike?

i want to know if i can put a shimano sora rear mech on my bike, specifically if it will work with the shifters i have. they are shimano 8 speed mountain bike shifters, like deore ones.

Used a 13-23 8spd cassette with a Sora s/c and double mtb c/set up front with no problems.
