Any one out there got or had mono m4s and can give some feed back? I have xt discs atm but find they are a little weak on stopping power, i weigh around 16.5 stone and want good realiable brakes, quite like the new red versions that are coming out hence the post before I spend £300.

Cheers

Hi Danny83 I have these on a newish Orange 5 AM and I like these a lot
These are on the Patriot. and that is a freeride / DH/ All mountain bike.

Best thing is to get a test bike with these on and go for a ride.

Put it this way when I tried a bike with the Juicy sevens and now I ride my bike
with these on I would never look back.

Danny83 - I'm 15+ stone and currently ride a 2006 S-works Stumpy FSR with Mono M4's that I used to run on my Rockhopper for 2 years before that and have never had one hint of a problem with them.
They never seem to fade (sintered pads), need only one finger to operate, can squeal a bit when wet but have always been very reliable requiring minimum maintenance.
180mm front and 160mm rear discs (not got the floating ones - yet!).
Mainly ride natural trails and Trail centres (including Black routes) and have yet to find a brake I like as much.

M4's are pretty powerful! They never has a problem stopping me, although I don't weigh very much.

I have two sets, ones the older black set that were my old race brakes and now on my play bike. I also have a newer silver set on my good bike. Both sets work great and never had a problem. They are looked after with fresh fluid every year and new pads when needed. There is one thing with the pads that they really do have to be bedded in (I use hopes owns pads)

I am 100Kg and have M4's with EBC Gold pads, 180F & 160R floating rotors.

As above, bed the pads in carefully, change fluid every year and you will stop on just about gradient.

I've got the older black ones and they stop me with no problems whatever the terrain and I weight 17stone + !
I've been using hopes scintered pads and they seem fine.

Got an Orange 5 with these on yesterday and they are my first foray into disc brakes. Even though they aren't bedded in yet they are far superior to my V brakes on my old bike.
