Here is a step by step guide...
1. Go to tesco.
2. Buy a multipack of various paper bowls
3. Go Home
4. Try on mutliple bowls on your head until u get one that fits.
5. Go to local bike shop
6. Hand over the paper bowel to the sales guy and say " Please sir can i have a helmet this size?"
or
1. Go to your local bike shop and try helmets on until u get one to fit.0 -
Nip down the LBS and try a few on? If nothing suits you can always walk away (although I always tend to buy at least a Go bar when I go to a bike shop, some sort of guilty feeling perhaps ).0

definitely try them on.
Different manufacturer's helmets are slightly different shapes, so it's essential that you try them on.
For example, Met and Fox helmets fit my noggin fine, but Giros and specializeds are the wrong shape.0 -
What do you think of the Met Kaos? I can get one pretty cheap and I need a nice new helmet.0
-
Anything that you buy to wear should be tried on first to ensure good a fit, helmets more so due to different heads suiting different manufacturers.0

very nice, the large vents are ace - I can definitely feel the wind in my hair when riding along, it's also pretty light, but feels very robust.
Mine's the "mimetic" colour, which is kinda like urban camo.
But, check them out on your head first, because I think the shells are ever so slightly smaller than they used to be, so for example, if you had a medium before, you may need a large this time.0 -
I've got a Giro havoc and it's pretty good, nice amount of vents and fits my rather odd shaped bonce nicely0

Okay i think it's established that i need to try them on, as i think by the replies on this thread there are no sizes indicated i.e in cm's
There was another question too regarding bigger size helmets but i'll leave it to the non sarky posters like supersonic etc.
Cheers.mp0 -
they do come in size ranges, for example, 58cm-61cm, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will fit the shape of your head.
try on a few helmets from a few different manufacturers, and you'll see what we mean.0 -
totally, also you need to try them on so you can make sure you get one that doesn't look crap on you!- Kona Hot '96 - Marin Rift Zone '09 - Cannondale Synapse Carbon '06 - Kona Caldera '98 - Kona AA '94 - Dawes Kickback II - Cannondale BadBoy '11 - Genesis iOiD SS -0
