OMG you have just made my day.
And the day of half of my corridor.
And you've just sparked a Captain Scarlet vs Thunderbirds Debate (with 1 weirdo voting for Stingray)

    Absolutely awesome.

Pointless fact of the day (acquired via the BBC spin-off book from "James May's 20th Century") - did you know that the Tracy brothers' first names were taken from those of the first five Americans in space?

Captain Scarlet was brilliant. Especially used to like the episodes where he'd go on a bender and get kicked off spectrum for a bit, or that one where he had a gambling problem haha. Also loved the fact Captain Black (or was it Captain Cider and Black?) was clearly hungover all the time.

But to choose between Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds, and Stingray is too tough, i still watch them all now when they're on tele.

The intros are still incredible after all these years:

I loved all the Gerry Anderson stuff, from Fireball XL5 and SuperCar, Stingray (I had a toy one), Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet (had the SPV, his car and an Angel Interceptor too), and Joe 90.

Remember the complaints about the baddie being Captain Black?

    Actually it was groundbreaking stuff.....

Femal fighter piolts, a coloured officer in a senior position etc. All they needed was "Captain Pink" and they could have won over the gay lobby as well!

I use to have a die cast Captain Scarlet cap gun - life doesn't get better than that when you're 5 - there are some days where I wonder if I might have peaked a bit early. I always wanted a pair of Joe 90 glasses, in fact as the years advance I think that they're becoming more of a neccessity.

Another day, another pointless fact: Captain Scarlet's real name is Paul Metcalf. All of the characters in Captain Scarlet had real names, including the Angles, except for Captain Black because he is too mysterious (apparently).

Night Network (1987  ) hosted by Craig Charles used to show Captain Scarlet. Happy days :D always wished they had shown Joe 90 though. If this were a poll thats where my vote would go, I think. This is harder than choosing Boris or Ken was the other week

    Even sadder......................

In later (print) adventures published in TV21 magazine, Captain Black was identified as Conrad Turner.

I can see why it was kept quiet.

Conrad is hardly a name to inspire fear!

Oh, and one other snippet - the actor (Robert Rietty) behind the "This is the voice of the Mysterons...." voice-over at the start of each episode also provided the voice of The New Number 2 in the opening credits of The Prisoner for those episodes where the voice of the actor playing No. 2 wasn't used.

For me it has too be

    1. Captain Scarlet
    2. TB's
    3. Joe 90
    4. Hmmm Stingray, always thought that was a bit gay even when I was 7

I have to admit I did find the Team America spoof amusing.

Whilst we are on this topic, what about magic roundabout vs The herb Garden vs Hectors House?? :D

Better than either were The Pogs, I think they were called. They used to get drunk on Elderberry wine and hallucinate pipecleaner men who would enact stories told by the rose bush. Classic!

    SteveR_100Milers:

I was talking out my digestive trumpet! It was Pogles' Wood. (I don't know why I don't check these things before posting.) And it was Bilberry wine they drank according to the official website, but there's no mention of the pipecleaner men - maybe it was me who was hallucinating.

Now that I see it again...
