Hey, I have been looking around and saw this bike and thought wow that looks nice... i was wondering if anyone had ever ridden one and if they could find some more detailed specs becuase the ones on this site are a bit too brief. http://www.holcroscycles.com/productdet ... k-XTS.html

Not ridden one, but the fork and rear shock arent too hot. Neither is the crank really. May want to llook at 2007 sale freeride bikes.

To be honest im not the kind of rider thats got to a level where i want to plumet down a mountain and over huge jumps down a corse... when you say that those parts arnt hot, are you saying that as a rider that is used to top notch stuff or is it just generally not too good? Knowing the cheap bikes iv ridden this would proberbly be a dream.
Also finding it hard to find other bikes like this for my low budget :( of about less than £900

Not just performance wise - they have a habit off falling to pieces!

From what you say, do you need a bike with this much travel and weight? Though for the same money could get this:

Far better parts, and much stronger.

I suppose you are corerct in what you say.. because before it was more the fact that i like the look of the bikes with huge travle and a nice rear coil but i suppose if its said not to be to good then the one you linked would be more suitable.

I used to sell bikes with DNM shocks - they were never that good, and I am not sure about spares either. Don't get me wrong, for less than 1k it is a lot of bike, but sometimes can be false economy unless you are prepared to upgrade some parts eventually.

I think that Idrive is reviewed on this site.

Mongoose used to do some good budget full sussers, and Giants can often be got in the sales.

so basicly the diamondback isnt exactly bad and it will last... just not as long as other bikes for that amount.

I don't know how it actually rides... just have some reservations about some parts.

    Seems the testers did too!

Another thing is as im most likely to get a bike on the internet is it going to be a problem putting it togeather, as i do not know anything atall about assembaly of bikes and especially no idea about how to set up Hydraulic breaks. If i took it into my LBS would they put it togeather and set it up?

They would, for about 30 quid or so, maybe more.

You need to know what you are doing really to get everything set up correctly - though they come partially built. Some good guides about, but you want it to be one right forst time, then learn from there.

Also buying on the net means no chance of trying for size unfortunatley, no free servicing and you would have to post it back if it goes wrong.

Is there anyway i could order a bike through my LBS to get the free service and setup etc?

Well only if your LBS is a DB dealer. The shop buys the bikes off the importer, and the shop is liable for warranty issues. If your LBS deals with DB then you may be able to get one, but would be nothing to do with that shop you linked to, and may be a different price.
