Well the days off are anyway. I have 3 weeks cycling in France, probably starting in Annecy, moving further south into the high stuff and finishing off with a few days in Provence to re-visit Ventoux. I'll finish off the holiday with the Ronde Picardie.

Sounds good.
We're the same. We take the ferry to Santander next week with the bikes hanging on the back of our small campervan. We'll spend afew days in the Pecos before moving north to the Pyrenees (Tourmalet? perhaps, we did the Aubisque last year). Then slowly meander through France over 4 weeks stopping frequently to ride the bikes and return home via Speedferries from Boulogne.
Just hope the weather doesn't prevent our recalling our fit middle age as it tried very hard to do last year.

Off to Cyprus as well on 2nd August but alas not with bike. However given the average temp of around 38c I think it wise I don't take it![/list]Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

wel - i had hoped for a cycle related holiday this year, but I've had to succumb to a fortnight in florida and good ole disneyland.
i made that sound like a right chore didn't I?
Off in two weeks with wife and two daughters, 4yrs and 18months old - 4yr old is over the moon with excitement.
and so am i!!
never been to disney before - can't wait
cycling can come another time - i want to see my little girls face at the "cinderella breakfast" whoo hoo!!0 -
Following on some good advice from these fine forums I've managed to convince the family that Annecy in the Alps would make for a great holiday. Should be booking this weekend (just hope the easyjet fares dont rocket between now and then!)0

Annecy, such a wonderful place, you won't be disappointed. Had a weeks walking holiday with the wife based in Chamonix(you must get there if you can) and went over to Annecy for a day out. Must get back there one day.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

hey cool - you got that sorted - I hadn't checked that other thread - good luck and hope you have a great time. Make sure on getting some pics and letting see you bag though killer climbs!0 -
Alas no bikes but off to Carcassonne (SW France) on the 20th.
I'm already looking forward to a day out in the Pyrenees.
So if anyone happens to be cycling past the cafe at the top of the Tormelet (why you would cycle past but not go in is beyond me, anyhohow) and see a bloke smugging you with a nice cold beer.
That will be me.0 -
Just 7 more working days for me - then off to Menorca with the kids - Cala Galdana - quiet resort, but great beach....no bike unfortunately - I can live with that - total chill out digging sand castles and stuff - may go running each morning though !!!0

The Tourmalet is tentatively on our agenda for later this month. After exploring the Picos de Europa we may well find ourselves in St Marie de Campan with a gentle ascent of the col on the cards. So if you see a doddering old fool with a grey beard and a mirror attached to his glasses riding a flat-barred Kinesis Racelight - get the beer out, it'll be me
