CRC & Wiggle

Having read throught the posts on here I note that CRC is very widely mentioned when quoting bit and bobs, but Wiggle hardly gets a mention.

Is there a reason for this?

Having only just got into the sport, is there something I've missed about these two? I did 2 basket comparison tests and Wiggle came out better both times, and I had voucher codes which brought the cost down even further.

I use them both regularly.CRC carry a huge range,and often appear to be cheaper.Wiggle sometimes work out cheaper though on bigger orders,over £50 when their discounts kick in or once you`ve bought enough to take advantage of their gold customer status.

Just make sure you untick the priority delivery bx when you order from wiggle,to get free postage.In my experience it still arrives within 3 days.

Would reccomend either.

CRC is quicker to type!!

as spiderman says, some stuff cheaper on one and some on the other, and wiggle also has the extra bouns of % off deals on orders over etc.

Merlin are also worth a look

I've found Wiggle OK (except for the mech hanger incident which still isn't resolved properly :evil: ). CRC are pretty good too, I am tending to find CRC do a bigger range of stuff.

Neither are perfect (I'm building up quite a list of other online retailers in my fvourites folder) but they are pretty cheap, large range and deliver quite quickly. Only thing I 'll say about both of them is that if they haven't got it in stock, unless you're prepared to wait for months find it somewhere else. Wiggle seem to automatically claim stuff will be in in 2 - 7 days (which on at least one item I wanted recently was complete twaddle as there was nowhere in the country with the tyres I wanted and even the UK distributor didn't know when they were getting them in), CRC seem to be a bit more realistic, they recently quoted late June as the date for stock coming in :shock: , however I've seen their dates come and go as well.

That said I think the comments above apply to nearly any online retailler (not just in the world of bikes), I tend not to order things from sites that don't show their stock status.

CRC have :

More choice than anywhere else.
They have reviews from customers on most popular items.
There web site is the easiest to navigate.
Order in the morning and you get it is delivered free the next day.

I also like Wiggles order system as you add to basket what you want, enter your password and order is done, you don’t have to enter you card number or address as its kept on file.

I use a few other places, when I have decided on what I want I will Google it to check what the other big distributors are selling it for, if there is not much difference in cost I purchase from the ones I have used before and trust (ie CRC , Wiggles, Merlin, Evans)

Wiggle's problems are
1. they put stuff on their website when they do not actually have the item in stock, and have no idea when/if it will ever be available
2. fail to do anything when contacted other than respond with patronising and meaningless e-mails.
Wiggle used to be good - it is a shame

Ive used them both to, and also evans cycals.
- Wiggle has a bit more of the 'faceless big gash company' about it imo.
- CRC website is also easier to navigate, and tends to be more accurate.

I started using wiggle when they first came on-line, gradually their poor service and mysterious stock level system :roll: kicked in and I wrote many letters of complaint over the years to them for which they admitted guilt about stock levels which didn't exsist etc. From then on I have used CRC and never looked back - I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I tend to order stuff late in the week for some reason. So if I actually NEED something for the weekend, I get it from CRC, as they do next day delivery.
If it can wait a few days, I might get it from wiggle if the price is better- but I've never, ever, ever got anything delivered next day from them!

I ordered a Camelbak from Wiggle yesterday. As yet the order hasn't even been processed. I sent them an email asking why this was and haven't even had a response to that. Think I will pay a few quid more and get it from Merlin instead.

I am surprised at the comments regarding wiggle.I recently returned a faulty jacket and was refunded,the next day,no problems at all.I once ordered 2 items,on which there was a discount if I bought 2 items,one wasn`t available ,so cancelled the order on that item,but they still honored the discount on the second item anyway.

They have contacted me this morning to say they have now processed the order. The reason given was that they are very busy at the moment and the priority despatches get done first which is fair enough.

Wiggle have also just taken the alarming step of using City Link as their couriers. Anyone who knows couriers will tell you that whilst they might be cheap, City Link are the world's worst for delivering to domestic addresses.

CRC use Royal Mail, and unless it's a particularly bulky item, if you order before 4pm you usually get your stuff next working day.

In 3 years that I've been using CRC, I've only ever had one problem with them which they sorted within a couple of days.

As someone else said, Wiggle do seem to be a bit faceless and also their range of stock isn't as comprehensive as CRCs

Yeah, that is very true also.
- As someone who, like many, is never in during office hours. And who lives 2minutes walk from the local post office. The advantage of being about have anything sent RM or Parcel Force outweighs almost anything else.

I think this is an issue with the Wiggle website ordering system. I've used the same discount voucher code on my last 3 orders over the last 3 weeks, two of these orders being after the expiry date on it!!!

I use both CRC and Wiggle, never had a problem with either. But I agree that CRC is usually the quicker of the two in getting the goods to me.

I use them both regularly, which one depends on stock availability and price, and I have never had any bother from either one.

CRC tends to have better choice, a better layout, and the customer reviews are sometimes helpful, so I tend to use them more.

Once I ordered a new pair of pedals on CRC at about 2pm and received them next day at about 11am, even with the standard delivery!

Wiggle also has a thiing for sending you stuff in way over sized packaging
