Do you really want donuts, in my experience they just end up squished at the bottom of the cable run.

that's a good point actually, i never have them overly slack and they're all on the top tube so on the very odd occasion that i need to shoulder my bike i never grab them anyway, hmmm i guess it would'nt be terrible if i did'nt fit them but as a preference i think i'd prefer them, i'll keep searching.

go and eat your cheese heh

Fit around the gear cable if you're cables (exposed) run a long the top tube. The idea is that they stop the cable scratching the frame. As I said above they just seem to migrate to the end of the cable during a ride. Maybe I'm a little OCD but I just spend the enitre ride repositioning them to exact spacings along the cable (alright I'm a lot OCD).

gk141054 at best they stop exposed cables rubbing off the clear coat on the paintwork when the cables are slack i guess.

my clear (brown and grimey and disgusting) ones pretty much stay where i place them they're quite chunky though i think i could break each one into three if i pulled on each one.

Erm, they tend to come in 3s. Maybe you've found the answer, don't seperate them

have heard of people hot glueing them in place, it's something im considering trying as mine just sit against the lower cable stops

forgive me asking what may be a stupid question, but is there any particular reason the cable inners are exposed that run along the top tube? was thinking it would be better to run a full length outer for me front and rear mecs when i come to replace them

Only thing stopping you doing that is the cable stops on the frame that will need drilling out. I think the idea of exposed inners is that friction is reduced but that has to be balanced against crud getting into exposed cable runs :D

Could try something like Flying snakes, they come with a full length inner liner.

Ditch the donuts and run a strip of Helicopter Tape under the cable to stop it scratching the paint.

    Job done.
