Valve hole on mavic and DT Swiss rims?

I am looking to get a new wheelset with either Mavic XC717 or Mavic XM719 or DT Swiss 4.2D rims, however I currently have inner tubes with schrader valves and want to continue using them as I prefer them.
Do new mavic/dt swiss rims come drilled for schrader or presta valves?

mavic are presta ready iirc, if you are determined to use schreader type valves though, why not fit the presta tubes and then fit an adapter, the tube will behave just like a car type then.0

Mavics usually come drilled for schrader with a little rubber gromit to reduce the hole size for presta.
cant remember about dt swiss. I would imagine presta, but you could either do the above or drill em out with an 8mm bit. Or just buy mavics...0 -
I purchased a set of wheels with XC717 rims from Merlin a few weeks ago. The rims are drilled for Schrader valves and came with the Presta insert.
I also have a set of DT Swiss 420 and they are for Presta only as the rim is not wide enough for Schrader. All the DT Swiss rims come drilled at 6.5mm apart from the FR6.1d rim.0 -
bear in mind as well if you have DT rims and drill them out for schrader then at a later date decide you would like to go tubeless, DT's own rim strip tubeless kits are designed for presta valve drillings only so you may run in to trouble. For DT's kit you do not need to expand the rim hole like you do with Stans.0

hmmm, I will probably go with some Mavic rims then.
New question: are hope pro 2 hubs worth the extra over Shimano XT hubs?
I am looking to get a wheelset built by merlin and the 2 options im looking at are:
Hope Pro 2 hubs
Mavic XM719
DT Swiss Black Comp Spokes
£89 for the front £150 for the rear
Total £239
Shimano XT hubs
Mavic XM719
DT Swiss Black Comp Spokes
£65 front, £75 rear
Total £140
The wheels are mainly going to be used for xc riding although on some fairly rough ground, also im a big bastard at ~110kg.0 -
This thread discussed pros/cons (for XTR hubs but it gives a general idea)

I had exactly the same decision to make the other month and went for the XT's in the end. I just wasn't convinced that the hopes are worth that much more, although they look nice0

I went for the XT's (and built by Merlin) also, loved the look of the Hope's but didn't fancy all that noise!..
Hope's are lighter also, which appeals to me. Dam that noise!.

Thanks for the input, in the end I found a set of brand new wheels which were hope hubs/mavic xm719 and dt comp spokes for £240 including the skewers so have gone for those. The wheels were built by stif.co.uk
I was about to go for the XT hub wheelset because they include the skewers but then found this set of wheels.0 -
Great choice,I recieved my 719's on XT from Merlin last week and they have a rubber Presta insert which can be taken out to allow use of schrader valves.0

I managed to get out for a couple of hours on Sunday in the local woods but I'm going to get back up Cwmcarn this weekend .0
