Hi, new to the MTB scene, so forgive me if this has been mentioned before !!
I've had my GT Avalanche Expert 08 for 6 weeks now, and being a bit anal about keeping it looking as new as possible, was annoyed to see that the cables where starting to mark the frame. After looking at prices for frame protector kits, and how much you get for your money, i decided to find something a bit cheaper.
Get yourself down to your local hardware store and find some of that sticky backed velcro on a roll. I paid £2.00 for a whole meter of it. Then cut and shape the fluffy part, and stick to the frame as required. A meter is heaps, i have done underneath the chain, and where the cables rub, and still have loads spare. It's as sticky as hell, and dries off really quickly, so jobs a goodun !!!
Now, how do i stop getting it muddy !!!

You buy a bike to throw down a rocky mountain in the mud, snow and rain, and worry about the paint job? :roll:0

Surprisingly not - I've had some tape on for a year and it is showing no signs of wear. It has been a particularly wet winter too! Choose a colour that matches your frame - I've got some white tape which doesn't show (on my white frame).0 -
