Ive bought myself the 9L ti gold chain, question is has anyone else used or tried their chains, this one is a first for me as i usually stick with sram.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

I've used budget KMC in the past, no problems.

I've just fitted a KMC X9-93 as recommended by LBS, they said they make Shimano chains as it is, hey who knows I'm doing the Marin Trail on Sunday so I'll find out.

Currently using KMC x9-73. Same price as Sram. Almost identical Powerlink system. Not a ha'pence of a difference. Either's fine.

kmc chain should shift better due to its design, it got a bit slide guild thing to help shifting
also the ti coating should make the chain last longer
but personally i stuck with xtr chain when i using shimano groupset
might try the x9 gold sl when my xtr worn out

gonna try a x9 sl gold here too when my xtr runs out but looking at it, it's gonna be ages yet though :)

Just gave it a quick try when i fitted the new mech, seems similar so my sram 991 but much better ramping when changing gears, maybe a bit smoother but for now it'll have to suffice, i need another cable asap, might last a few rides but id sooner not chance it.

Just got myself one so I guess there'll be a few of us experimenting at the weekend!!
  • Been running an X9SL for a while now with no probs.
I bought it just for the bling factor more than anything else but I'll stick with them now I think.
Was a bit iffy about the powerlink at first having never used one before but it's been fine, and is a godsend when it comes to cleaning.
Must get around to getting another one for the second bike.
