I am thinking about buying a focus cayo expert (campy chorus, fulcrum racing 5 wheels)

Does anybody know anything about this bike? How's the ride?

Seems like a geat price for full carbon and chorus.

I've got a Cayo and it's a great bike. The only thing I didn't like about it was the saddle which I changed.
  • how was it for size?
    ooh err!
    I'm 6'1

I'm 5'8" and I have the medium and it's a great fit. I just went by their sizing chart.

Due to the increase in Euro value, the focus range is being re-priced as of th14th April. The wiggle blog suggests the new retail price for the cayo and expert will be another £200.

Therefore those of you that are considering this bike then buy sooner than later

I am just about to purchase the same bike with the Shimano Dura-Ace gears (couldn't find anyone to prove that extra £100 for campag would make a difference - although lots of good opinions). Do you get a standard or compact set? My current bike is the 2007 Giant SCR2.0 which has a triple (good for halling my fat ass up hills), and the compact only offers slightly less ratio than that. I just don't know and to be honest don't fully understand it. someone pick for me or give me a gem of advice. I am not much of a spinner and prefer to turn the big gears, but will I really miss the extra gears ratio when climbing the somerset hills or will I get used to the standard??

It took me 3 months to finally choose the Cayo bike, so this dilema will take me well beyond the 14th April, and I haven't even sized it yet!
  • I've got a 2006 Cayo Expert which has a compact fitted. You can change the rear cassette to change the overall gearing ir requyred as I do, and I use it for sportives and time trialling. I cant see any need to revert to a standard 39/53 front chainrings - 50x11 is a pretty big gear, certainly for most amatuer riders anyway. on the other hand a 34 x 27 means you twiddle up just about anything without trashing your knees.
