Hi,

I nearly placed an order on a Rock Lobster today but had a thought.

I am off to the USA for a holiday next week and had a quick look at bike prices and it seems they are a similar price in $ as £ here. Ie a spesh Stumpjumper is $1300, c£700!

So do I do this, any issues? A bike bag and the extra carriage will be about £100 so its well worth it.

But what if the frame brakes? Will I be covered by the guarantee i the UK???

Cheersa

import tax and Vat on the return to the UK and warranty with the supplying shop.

I am not expecting to pay VAT or duty. I will use the bike while I am out there and if stopped will claim I took it from UK for the holiday............

you will need to prove ownership of greater than 3 months.

you can try the take a rubbish old bike in a bag trick and then bring the new one back
    i've heard that works
  • Remember to post the manuals and reciepts ahead though. You could have trouble explaining that one to customs!!
