I've been riding a Dale F700 for years, and used to have one of the old Super V's but was looking for a new full susser that does everything well, but is more freeride than race. Considering either:
'08 Commencial Meta 5.5.3
or:
'07 Cannondale Prophet 2 or Prophet 2sl
I'm pretty keen to get something with lockout, so I can ride to work and still play at weekends, otherwise just has to be somewhere just over £1000 budget. Any alternatives or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Martin

I also recently looked into these two bikes as they have had good reviews. Couldn't find a bike shop within 50 miles that had the prophet in my size to look at, but did try a meta 5.5 in my size, lovely bike but then i tried (and bought) a spcialized pitch pro. The pitch is excellent, great downhill, uphill and comfy enough for 3-4 hour rides. It also has more standover room than the commencal, which has come in handy now i'm going downhill faster. Give it a try!
  • Cheers for the advice, but have tested ridden a couple of the dales this weekend, I'm tempted by either the Rush or the new Rise (bit shorter travel, but a slightly easier to huck up hill!) Although, still torn, too many well rated bikes in this bracket its difficult to decide!
