Gone with the (Sauser)wind

The October 2007 edition of WMB described a prototype of the Specialized Sauserwinds as 'the perfect XC tyre' - 'They've rolled fast and remained inflated and hooked up on the greasy summer trails shedding mud and gripping rocks and roots as well as any XC tyre we've ever ridden.'
They were released in January and are widely available, yet they've attracted very little interest from the MTB press and on this forum. Why no mention on the innumerable 'Which XC tyre' threads? At 1.8 inches wide and only 500g (despite being tubeless - or 2Bliss - compatible), and under £20.00, they sound like a contender for the rear XC race tyre crown.
