cleaning chains?

hi, just wondering if you take off your chain to clean it, like in a pot over night or something. is this a good idea every now and again? if so what cleaning product should i use, muckoff mabey?

generaly i find you need a pretty serious degreaser to clean up chains. It is better to scrub them with it than soak them though, then you take the surface gunge off but don't strip out the cgrease from the rollers.

I clean my chain once a week. I fill a bucket with hot soapy water and put the chain in. It soaks all the time I clean the rest of the bike.

When I've finished, I give it a scrub with a small brush (on all 4 sides), dry it thoroughly, put it back on and lube it. I have a happy chain
