RIP Leisure Lakes racing

Disaster. Leisure Lakes have cancelled their XC race series until further notice. This has been running monthly - summer and winter - at the original shop near Preston, since at least 1992, which must make it the longest running race series in the UK.

This was real grass-roots, unpretentious racing - and now it has gone. There are new XC and marathon series springing up all over the South of England, a great National series in both Scotland and Wales - but there is now no XC race series of any sort in England north of Manchester - or am I missing somewhere?

Honorable exception for the Isle of Man - where cycle racing of all types continues to blossom spectacularly

Not a race series but there's Hit the North, a 12-hour enduro being held north of Manchester on the 19th July.

Just seen this thread over on STW about an evening XC race series that someone is trying to set-up in the North West. They are looking for help/marshalls for the racing...here's you're chance to help out :)
