How to stop rear wheel from bending?

I have noticed that the back wheel on my bike is slightly bent. I have booked my bike in for servicing next week and it should get fixed then.
Does any one have any ideas how to stop this from happening again.
Do I need to buy a nice strong wheel?
or am I just knocking around my XC hardtail too hard, is there any techniques for landing small jumps and drop-offs.

how bent? its probably just needs re-trueing and the spokes tensioned..but a decent built wheel is worth it, merlin do very good builds
