Question about Hope Pro 2 hubs

Just got my new wheels today and about 20 mins ago i put them on my bike to try them out. Im soooo loving the sound of the Pro 2 rear hub  . However they dont seem to be smooth when i spin the wheels, they seem to be sticking. Its not just the rear one but its the front one too. Im using my rotors that were on the original wheelset and ive realigned the calipers. Is it just because i need to bed in the bearings? Or is it somthing else i need to check out?

Smoothness is a bit different from the resistance felt - cartridge bearings do tend to drag a bit more, and there are quite a few in the rear hub!

My rear hub did drag a bit at first when it was new but a few decent rides to bed them in will see you right.

BTW, DO NOT use cheapo sprockets, you need a cassette with an aluminium carrier (such as Shimano XT) because the Pro 2 freehub body is also aluminium and a cheap cassette like a Deore will chew it up.

Well the cassette I'm using is a SRAM one but i cant remember what model it is. It might chew it up so i might have to get the cassette changed.

Thanks anyway they're a bit smoother now after a good ride last night. [/quote]

  • bearings often take time to set in. I remember my V8s being really disappointing when i got them, now they splin like there's no tomorrow
