Personally I know alot of people who have started on a Claude Butler (not CBR) namely the Cape Wrath and form what I've seen they've all been chuffed to bits,

They are great for starting out on/weekend XC and larking about on but I wouldn't consider them to be built for abuse

Claude Butler do make some good bikes, the Rock & Cape Wrath to name just two of them.

I have a mate with a Cape Wrath D27 & it has handled the red & Black trails at Glentress, the red @ C-Y-B & the red & black @ Dalby, pretty tough bit of kit.

CBR on the other hand are shite.

Sorry for the noobie question

They're Claud Butler's version of Muddy Fox's - Silver Fox range.

Associated brand but a bag of left hand screwdrivers

  • So none of these are CBR then?

and falcon dopn't have the best reputtion either. my first bike was a falcon XC
    Train hard, ride easy
  • I bought a Claud Butler Olympus D2 and have to say that I'm really impressed with it.

It's a decent all rounder and is kitted out with deore lx stuff mostly. It's well worth the money (Certainly what I paid for it). I have covered 600 miles on it since I bought it without any problems... apart from a bent rear derailer and mangled front wheel after an argument with a tree but that's more my fault than the bikes.

There are better bikes but you will pay better money for them. I like it but then you need to try a few bikes out and see how they feel. Everyones different.

The Rock and Cape Wrath are too notable exceptions in an otherwise mediocre lineup.
