why not get a cheap 2nd hand roadie or hybrid or other bashed up bike to get you to uni, that way if it gets nicked its no major deal, where as you proper ride will...and changing the rims won't really stop it being nicked.
  • I agree Norco - you need an old hack bike (will cost less than rims believe me if you look around) As papasmurf said it won't stop your bike being nicked!
  • what he said ^^ pretty much.
i'm currently converting my on-one inbred into a singlespeed pub/commuting bike as i've gone full sus off road for now.
slicks, singlespeed, v-brakes. less tempting for thieves when they see no discs and no gears.

I just spent £130 on a carrera virtuoso (yellow) second hand. That way my MTB stays at home and the chavs dont take a second look at my road rig. Plus the fact that its loads faster then the MTB for getting around on tarmac.
    Giant TCR advanced 2 (Summer/race)
    Merlin single malt fixie (Commuter/winter/training)
    Trek superfly 7 (Summer XC)
Giant Yukon singlespeed conversion (winter MTB/Ice/snow)

    Carrera virtuoso - RIP
  • yea i can see peoples point, i'll see what i can dig up/find :) i'm sure i've got an old apollo somewhere lol

thinking of changing rims anyway as my 4x rims are quite heavy, so once again peoples views appreciated.

I'd go for a cheap secondhand road bike.

They might not be cool, but you'll enjoy the speed!
