Apologies for my ignorance but I have just ordered a Control Tech Scandium seatpost for my bike,I mentioned it to my mate on the phone earlier and he says you dont grease Scandium posts. I was under the impression that it was Carbon that you didnt need to grease, after all Scandium is an alloy . Anyone know ??

I would put a little grease on it my friend - hope that answers your question.
Although we are now the forum's leading experts on Scandium thanks to WikiPedia - although no mention in there about greasing your scandium seatpost0 -
Its an aluminium alloy, with added scandium, rather than pure scandium. Grease with a non lithium grease.

Nope, don't put regular grease on carbon. It gets into the weave and it expands so you have a nice stuck seatpost. There are special carbon safe greases you can buy if you really need them.0
