Hi,
I'm considering buying a Dahon Speed TR and cycling from Waterloo to Liverpool St.
What's the best/safest exit (and route) from the maze that is Waterloo Station?
Just follow the TFL website suggested run up The Cut?

Best/safest route Waterloo->Surbiton? (for getting my summer mileage up)

  • From Waterloo:

Turn left from main concourse, down hill with the cycle path, across the road, under the bridge, turn left and then left at the road, straight on at the 90 degree bend (there's a car barrier), right at the end and across the bridge to Houses of Parliament.

For Liverpool St it would be slightly shorter to go east along the south bank (eg crossing at Tower Bridge) but not sure it's quicker and probably easier to get lost.

Surbiton is more or less half way on my commute from Woking (I go via Hampton Court). From Surbiton it would be Kingson, Kingston Hill, Roehampton Vale, Kingston Rd (you can go through the park or up the glass strewn cycle path next to the A3 but the main road is by far the quickest and easiest), then bear left down Putney Hill to Putney. After the bridge keep primary position on the right (keeping speed up!) and turn right at the 2nd lights (at the bend, with all the other cycles). Then basically straight, along New Kings Rd, Sloane Sq. From there I go up to Wigmore St via Hyde Park, but I guess for Liverpool St you'd go either Picadilly/Holborn or Strand. With traffic, I'd think about an hour.
