So excited!

  • Good news Easy!

It's a wicked feeling when you can see the end of a build in sight!!! Your turn to be the big kid....

re: my mythic build: The last couple of components should be here by next weekend... then it shall be going to LBS for fork fitting and BB/chainline fixing (he charges £20 whatever so may as well let him fit the crank and LG1 whilst he does my forks)

Then the first thing I am going to do before I even ride it is tae photos before it gets covered in gunk!

Get some pics Easy - looking forward to seeing the Marin...

What forks did you opt for - I canne remember!

My current RECONs as they are U-turn to 130mm whcih is what it takes. They're coil so I think at some point I would upgrade to Air Revelations (in white probably). Must admit though I love these recons, they have been my trusty littel break dancers for a while and are fully broken in now so they deserve a summer of riding along with a Marin.

    Got to dash, cheers mate.

  • I wouldn't bother with getting air forks to be honest, not on a burlier rig like yours - and if you like them that much why bother changing.

I find air forks need more maintenance and topping up all the time and just don't have the plushness - I have both and it's coil for me every time :D

Anyway - keep us informed mate!

Excellent news easyg, bet you can't wait to ride it, and we can't wait for pictures!
  • Well I'll fill you in on this so he doesn't have to.

Stif ring up this morning and tell him the steerer tube has been cut too short DISASTER!

Absolutely gutted for him. He rang up to tell me of his woes and I was gobsmacked, after waiting 5 months for the build, everything is in place and right at the death something goes wrong, it always does!!

    BUT

I was on hand to help out and managed to track down some Revelations at J E James cycles (there was coil and air on offer at a reasonable price) So this was at 1.30 today, so easy made the call and he was off to Rotherham! Got the forks and they are back at stif safe and sound, so we will be riding tomorrow!!!

a good end to the day - and easyG gets some new forks.

Come to think of it I still don't know if he went for the coil or air forks. I have the air pikes and love them, I think I have s niggling feeling he went for air?

have a beer easyG - you deserve it after todays shananigans!!!!

we will get some pics up tomorrow - Should be off to Wharncliffe to get s-h-i-t-up with mud!!!!
  • ahhhh bummer man - but at least with a happy ending!!!

It's something that a lot of folk forget to measure, we all get caught up with seatposts, clamps, front mechs etc but it's very easy to forget head tube height...

Glad it's coming together for him and make sure he gets some piccies taken!

  • He went for the coil fork in the end!

Will get some pics tomorrow, I'm looking forward to finally getting out on the bikes together!

It'll be cringeworthy getting mine dirty, it was pretty dry first time I went out on it last weekend - Tomorrow she'll get filthy, its going to happen but I just don't want her to get mucky!

    Well here I am!

At home, beer in hand, porn on the widescreen and all components at Stif!

Holy sh1tballs what a day! To be fair I always knew it was a risk as they were on my current/ old bike. Anyway got some brand spanking new 08' Coil U-turn Revelations which I must admit look uber sexy in the flesh. Went for coil as they would be logically better for aggressive riding, are plusher (I'm told not having rode air) and cos when I had the dual air in one hand and coil in the other I couldn't really feel an obvious difference - then again my hands were shaking like a sh1tting dog from doing 110mph in hurricane winds driving with my knees whilst texting GT Destroyer.

We should have lift off and thus pics tomorrow; everyone please cross your fingers for the birth, no more complications (please!)

Cheers for your comments guys, stay tuned.

    The eagle has landed...

So I finally got it at around 2:30pm on saturday. When they brought her through I don't think I could believe it was my bike. She is utterly awesome!

Now, GT Destroyer had alcohol poisoning on saturday (in fact still did yesterday!) so we went out to Wharncliffe yesterday and oh my god. Words fail to describe how much me and this bike get on - I could not help but charge into, up and through the air over the trail surface. It was out of this world. I experienced the 'flow' and am addicted to it. In fact I'm craving some more now, I need a hit - might walk out of my day job and just go.

Lots of pics to come, just didn't have time yesterday so should be tonight with full spec.

Have a good day all. Easy.

Wow, what a mission, so glad you got it all toghether and love the ride. Think I might have cried if I'd been in the same situation with the forks!!

Might actually have to log on outside of work to see the pics!
  • They'll be coming tonight - I got 'em on my mobile, I'll try and stick 'em on first thing when I get in.

I noticed a spot where we could get an "arty" shot, so we proceeded to do that, we had to stand them up and hope they didn't get blown over in the wind!

    God it was cold.
