Just strolled up the shops for a Sunday paper - and it is bloody (and literally) freezing!
I could have stayed in bed. Now I'm up, I could sit by the fire and read. I could go and look at the pretty, frosty, fields from the warmth of the car.
But no, I'm going out in it, pedalling.
Well, the sun IS shining, so that's my excuse! Have a nice day y'all!

Just got back from 50 miles. it is a bit parky out there but it wasn't half nice scenery to be training in.0

Glad I made the effort! Sun just kept on shining. Crept above freezing by noon. Feeling quite self-congratulatory.d.j.

It was very effing cold at 8am on a lifeless layby somewhere between St Helens and Skelmersdale. Temperature-wise as well as emotionally, culturally etc.0

60 miles this morning. Shelved my plans to 'leave at 7' to allow the ice to clear and left at 8:30 instead. I took a swig from my bidon at Uxbridge some 40 minutes later and nearly lost a filling.
Half hour later I hit the Wooburn Road and my toes hurt. By Marlow they really hurt so I upped the tempo from Level 1 to Level 2 just to generate some blood flow (sorry Coach!)
A wonderful days training0 -

I "only" did 20 miles this afternoon...bit then I have been off the bike die to a foot injury for 2 weeks, so didnt want to stray far from home.Half hour later I hit the Wooburn Road and my toes hurt. By Marlow they really hurt so I upped the tempo from Level 1 to Level 2 just to generate some blood flow (sorry Coach!)
Z1 what the hell is that???? I don't think I've spent more than 15 minutes in Z1 all year :shock:0 -
I did a very lumpy 100km. It wasnae very cold up here, apart from a wee bit of ice at the top of Redstone Rigg (at c450m above sea level).
I set a new top speed of 50mph, which was fun & managed to come off on a deceptively sharp corner at c30mph. The idea of higher speed crashes being safer always seemed a bit daft to me, but two bits of road rash, some damage to my tights & a wee bit of bruising isnae bad, given the energy involved!
A fantastic day all in & the first long ride in Scotland where I didn't get soaked!!!0 -
55 miles yesterday, not fast enough to get hot and slow enough to enjoy the lovely sun. It was about minus 3 when we left at the start but the roads had little ice on them and most of the car drivers seemed to be less aggressive than normal
Went out mtbing with the dog in the afternoon, guess I am making the most of it..Club rides are for sheep0
