    Looking good there!!!

I like it a lot - very understated!

Is that a new paint job on there? Are you putting the metal badges back on?

Did you go for the black on black stickers in the end?

Not yet my friend - still have not got around to sorting out the race on the CK headset yet and I still need to change the shifters to XT and I am ordering some Hope Mono M4 brakes and flogging the Codes which are mint (virtually new) but tooooo much power

So she will have her first 'proper' run out in a couple of weeks :D
  • Yeah its satin black now! Im gonna put the flame one back on the front, dunno about the side one yet though, and im gonna either get the black, or a dark grey colour sticker for the side!

have you by any chance got a pic of your crosser so i cn see the graphic please? :)
  • Sure - DEFO go black on black - looks mint...

    Needs more carbon
  • Andrew, This is going to make you squirm but I am actually REMOVING carbon from the Marin Indian Fire Trail

Only seatpost and stem though (now got Thomson elite instead of FSA)

    HERECY!

Keeping carbon bars though for damping qualities...

Do I need to bring out the smelling salts for you?

Just Elite for the Thomson? I went for the Masterpiece :P - only way carbon would forgive me
  • what's the weight saving between masterpiece and elite - can't be that much surely?

    About 40g

Considering thats like £1 per gram saved most people just wouldn't do it... Most.
  • Well some of us would - he he

You may be able to help me out here with a carbon query.

Where can I get the S-Works low rise XC carbon bar from?

I shall be flogging the FSA set (post stem and bars) soon if you're interested?

    What size is the post?

There is a Specialized Concept Store near me I think sell the S Works Bars if that helps?
Have seen them on ebay as well.
  • 31.6mm x 350mm long (it's a K-Force one that came with the Marin)

I just found the bars on leisure lakes - £59.99 - that sounds pretty cheap eh?

They are really nice bars in the flesh - just not too 'glossy' weave like the FSA

I have S-Works Flat bars so I know what you mean!

I may be buying a few things from the shop in the not too distant future so if you do definitely want them let me see what sort of deal i can get.
  • Yep - let me know how much they are going for there...

I dont' think my FSA bars go with the Thomson stem tbh.

Great kit is the FSA but when it's part of a package - whereas the S-Works bar should go nice with the Thomson I think

    25.4 or 31.8?
  • Sorry - 31.8mm :D

    ... and thanks!

  • I did look at the ritchey kit - it's great but again it's just too 'glossy' like my FSA.

I like the less polished natural carbon of the S-Works...

I am a peculiar bloke with carbon

Allot bars just don't have the same qualities...

I bought a set of Easton MonkeyLite DH from Aspire's a couple of weeks back - man for a DH bar they are LIGHT!

    Look good too

What about Easton then? The EC90 on my XTC is a beauty and probably a better finish for you.
  • Yep - very nice indeed...

However - just found out I can get the S-Works for £56.99 (discount)

Are they crap or something - a tad heavy perhaps.

What's your take on them? Having used them?

S-Works? Well I've only used the flat rather than the riser but I love it! Especially since it was £29.99!

    When you looking to buy?
  • Soon I think - within the next week anyway... tbh I think £56 is hard to beat considering evens want £80

    and that's including P&P!

Well in terms of weight mine were 125g which isnt too bad but Easton EC90 flats are 99g
For 56 quid you can't really go wrong.
  • It's funny because FSA K-force stuff is one of the lightest groups around.....

I think I shall keep it all and not sell it in case I ever change my mind (which happens a lot)

Cheesey - from one Marin lover to another; she is a sweet sweet sight!

Also thanks for your advice on the frame size of my Rocky Ridge - I went down to my LBS, who also happen to be a Marin specialist, and sat on a medium and a large B-17 which is obviously the same frame. I had them sat next to each other to assess the looks thing as well and think I've made the right choice. if I did mess around getting a large rocky ridge frame instead I would be sacrificing chuckability, jumapability and a bit of weight saving for stability and cruise control which to be honest isn't me - it felt burlier and more stable but we ride aggressive and are hoping to play around with a bit of basic free riding in time, so the medium was the right choice - shouldn't question myself. Feck reason, instincts every time from now on!

    Its all goood!
