Ha, Tinkoff man ruins Boonen's run.

  • Shame, I quite like Tom.

Aren't Tinkoff still 'evil' because they had Hamilton and Hondo last year? or am I not keeping up?

It'll be interesting to see if Boonen can hit real form for the spring classics. You worry he's going off the rails, kinda Freddy Maertens, with his juvenile girlfriend, drinking and parties.

Haha! are you serious? Boonen's come flying out the gate already, shown his sprint is as devastating as ever and has a solid team to back him up. He's got 2 solo wins already, a TTT win and a 2nd place and looks to have a stage race sewn up and it's not even the end of January.....
Remember, it's only 9 weeks till the Tour of Flanders which isn't that far away in physiological terms. He should now be using racing to sharpen up his form before he peaks for Flanders and Roubaix.......

Titanium is right - Last year Boonen cleaned up at Qatar but was found wanting in the Classics. He just didn't have it. And there was talk at the time that his activities with the ladies meant he wasn't as sharp as he should be.

And now he's got himself a 16 year old girlfriend, his training partner just got bust for gak etc etc. Winning sprints in Qatar in January is all fine and well but it doesn't show his classics form will be any good.

Boonen is in the style of Sean Kellly at his peak...riding to win every race. He's that impressive...perhaps better than a Jalabert, Fondriest or Zabel-3 riders closest to Sean Kelly
