Long shot, but...
Anyone know of a source of old standard 26" wheels, more especially alu rims? I know that Weinmann did make them (had a pair on a '50s Lenton some time ago, stupidly sold the wheels).
Not for me, my mate wants to restore his dad's Rudge. It'll take 700s but period would be better and I think that alu were an upgrade in the '50s.
Any help gratefully received. Thanks.

OK, even dimmer than usual - sjscycles have some! Apologies!
But.... if anyone got any to sell?

The SJS ones are 590, 26 x 1 3/8. If your machine was a more sporting type then it would use 26 x 1 1/4 which is 597.

You might try http://www.theoldbicycle.co.uk/ who do not list any 26x 1 1/4 but might know where to get some.

These people seem to have some steel rims, http://www.freemanscycles.co.uk/product ... teel%20Rim

Aluminium rims, stainless spokes - unsealed, or sealed hubs..£50 or £60 a pair...here:

26*11/4 are a total bee-hatch to find, I saw a pair of rusty wheels on the bay for just short of £100.
26*13/8 is another matter entirely, as that's the size used for cycle speedway.
