hmm - sounds like you have a had it rough - I get phases like that - you just can't buy anything without something going wrong. I have ordered this groupset from a abit of an unknown - apollo cyclesports - they seem ok, respond to email quickly and they are helpful on the phone so hopefully be ok. they had a cracking price on the group though - £421 and full options on the spec. I have ordered the carbon compact chainset (50/34) with a medium cage rear mech and 13-26 cassette.

which german shop did you use for the marchision cassette?

Hope ribble sort you out tomorrow - I'm sure they will

Yeh it did go through. Because it also listed the wheel bags as coming. I'll ring them tomorrow and hopefully they'll be ok about it. Just a bit of a pain in the ars when you're looking forward to something arriving. I just hope they don't try and make out I made a mistake.

Clemenzo, as mentioned in the other thread. I'm not entirely sure they've made a mistake but it looks like it to me. Again, hopefully they'll say 'yep' and send one out in the post pronto.

Clemenzo are in the clear. I emailed them tonight. They emailed back an hour or so later to say my cassette didn't require the spacer I thought it did. Mind at ease on that one and great service from them too. :)

I'm planning on building it up the first weekend of Feb so I'm not in a massive rush but when you've paid your money its worrying when you have to try and get something else out of a company operating from miles away. Such is the value of a well stocked LBS I guess.

Ribble have sorted the problem aswell. Bags are in the post and money will be refunded but doesn't really make up for the fact they got it wrong in the first place and it was the first time I'd used them. They were good on the phone to be fair, however, I asked them to give me a ring when it was sorted and they didn't, I had to call them again.

Not great performance given that I've never had any problems with any other online retailer or private sellers. Still. The price was right and the wheels look spangly so I'll get over it.

yeah - i guess mistakes happen. from my experience with the wheels, I ordered on tuesday and received them on the thursday - I was well pleased with that result, but the box came with an apology to state that they had been delayed and I should expect quicker service next time! - i was pretty pleased this time. The first time I used ribble for a pair of adidas shorts they never ever turned up. got a refund but it took ages to process. The second time I bought a tiagra chainset which turned up within a coupld of days and then these wheels are the 3rd time I have used them..

as you say - the experience could have been better but they have sorted it and the wheels look great - you'll get over it!

what are they going on by the way? framewise I mean (and groupset and other details if they are known!)

Yep, all sorted so I'm happier. Just a shame it tainted my first night with my new sweethearts!

Ok, well here goes. They'll be shod with Pro Race 2's and a Marchisio cassette and put on to a Scott CR1 frame in blue and natural carbon. They'll be propelled along by a Record carbon compact chainset connected to a Chorus BB connected to the cassette via a Veloce chain will wind its way through Centaur mechs. They'll be stopped by a pair of Record differential brake calipers which will operated by a set of Centaur ergos. The ergos will be mounted on a pair of FSA K-Wing carbon bars and they'll be connected to the forks with a Time Monolink carbon stem. Yellow Deda bar tape will complete the cockpit. The pilot will sit on a Selle Italia SLR saddle connected to a Planet X carbon seapost. A couple of matching bottle cages and a wireless strada computer will complete the package.

I'm not rich so the above is a mix of brand new and second hand. It will come in at just under £1500 but by my calculations I will have saved neary £1000 on rrps....but more importantly it'll be a lovely bike!

I'll take some pics when its finished and am planning a little vid of the build so I'll let you know when its sorted.

Hey gkerr4, have you fitted those rubino pro's on the eurus wheels yet? - just curious how easy they went on.

heavymental - that sounds well nice - it will be a great spec bike when complete!

dbg - yep - fitted - they went on no problem at all - not tools needed, I just put them on with my thumbs they seemed to go on well. no tighter than the shimano 105 wheels on my winter bike anyway!

Yeh I hope so. My only worry is that it'll look a bit of a mish mash but I think I'm just being paranoid. Thing is, the stem and seatpost and bars don't really match graphics wise but they're all carbon so I think it'll look fine once its all put together. My other concern is just that it might be just a brutally harsh ride but I'm hoping it won't be too bad! I don't usually go for all day rides so I'm sure it'll be ok for what I want it for.

any pics of the bits that are going together - especially the frame - is it a new frame or 2nd hand?

I wouldn't worry about it looking a mish-mash - i think it will look pretty unique and "handbuilt' in a way.

    oh God - it's a right pain

I cant find anyone with stock of carbon centaur at a decent price.

I ordered from a place on monday after emailing on saturday about stock- they said that they had all options in stock - so i raised the order on monday and then received an email to day to say that they had ran out of 170mm compact cranks - no stock expected until mid-feb.

so I have cancelled that - parkers don't have it all, ribble don't have it all, probikekit don't have it all

anyway - I have figured out this evening that I can get it al through two orders - one to ribble and one to probikekit an still get the groupset with all my options for around £440 (and actually that with a KMC SL10sp chain in place of the campg one) - which isn't too bad I guess.

did you get the cables OK? how was it to setup?
    any more pics?

Yeh, got the cables yesterday. Adjusting the mechs was rather easy, probably because I'm used to the limit screws being caked in oily mud.

I just need to find a jersey to match the bike now.

Nope, not in this weather. It'll stop on the turbo until I can go out comfortably without a winter jackets and bib tights.

Gkerr. If you hang on for a couple of days I might have a suggestion of somewhere you can source your stuff. Waiting on my order to arrive and when it does I'll know if its worth recommending you give them a call.

 so you're dripping sweat onto it instead?

Mine's hanging forlornly in the garage - at least it's not lonely with my bike collection (hanging next to a bike which does go out at this time of year). Very, very nearly took it out today, and kind of wished I had as it wouldn't have got too mucky, but I don't suppose my weekly trailer pulling ride is the best time to christen it.

Use a turbo for it's intended purpose? Nah, it's just a better stand than the piece of crap I bought from Decathlon that's supposed to be a stand. It's just going to sit on the turbo so I can look at it.

think I have sorted the groupset now - finally...

I have ended up ordering the ergo's, front mech, cassette, brakes and BB cups from probikekit - for £212 with next day delivery

then ordered the chainset, rear mech and chain from ribble - which with their discount voucher came to £199 - and included a pair of mavic bags too for some reason(?)

so -£411 all in - the probikekit is on next day delivery and the ribble - well, it'll turn up when it does.... - and this was with my full spec (13-26 cass, medium rear mech, 170mm cranks) and with a KMC gold chain in place of the std. campag one - and I guess if I get a decent price for the mavic wheel bags on ebay then it might work out under £400 - but what a pain in the @rse it has been to get to

here's just hoping that I dont't get emails left right and centre to say that things are out of stock...
  • Might be interestesd in the wheel bags if you're selling . How much do you want for them ?

well - the probikekit stuff arrived this morning at 10 to nine - 23hrs and 50minutes after ordering - it would appear that their £8 24-hour delivery is exactly that! - very impressed with that actually!

anyway - so I now have some centaur carbon ergo's with cables, a centaur combined CT/std front mech, a centaur 13-26 cassette (Wow - how much are they!!??!!), a set of centaur skeleton brakes and the record bottom bracket bearing cups...

Hopefully the chainset, chain and rear mech will arrive from ribble tomorrow and then I can build the bke this weekend!

no - it't the 08 combined braze-on one - but I have an adaptor. The roubaix is quite a chunky seat-tube and needed the 34.9mm band-on adaptor.

It actually arrived yesterday as I ordered it (from PBK) when I ordered the first groupset and could only get the braze-on one....

Ah, i had to order the same size for my Dolan, ended up getting the Record Band on adapter.

Building mine up this weekend too, but only have Friday night and Saturday to do it, and then finish it off in 2 weeks if i don't finish it then.

Hope you get all the kit on time though, you're gonna have one of the nicest Roubaix on the road 8)

i did yes - it will hopefully arrive this morning - ordered it from ribble - a little treat for the drivetrain.

not sure how it will look though - might be a bit much?

I have somes questions about the build - not sure to start a new thread - I am curious about:

the torque setting for the band-on adaptor?
do you put grease in the headtube to seat the cartridge bearings for the intgrated headset or does it get build 'dry'?
is the yellow stuff on the ultratorque cups actually threadlock? or does it need new stuff?

    some other too I think...
