Folks I've been off the treader for several months now and spending much more time commuting on my motorbike (new work). I'm a bit out of the picture these days, but a friend of mine has asked me for advice on road lights. It would seem that his missus wants to buy him a top notch set of lights and appears to be prepared to pay top prices. She mentioned one set - Light & Motion Solo Li-IOn Cub????. Any comments on these?Ta

Don't know about those, but I can heartily recommend these:

If he doesn't want a helmet light, I'd be inclined to get a pair of lights (Regular kit) and mount one either side of the stem.
Approx £190 delivered, unless you get done for duty, in which case around £230-£240 - but still worth every penny.

Have a look at http://www.lumicycle.com, I bought a pair with the Lithium Ion battery after trying keep up with some mates mtb'ing at night and having to resort to blind faith as my £50 lights cast a pale glow that just about illuminated a couple of feet in front. The Lumicycles on the other hand are fantastic, it makes a pleasant change to have cars instantly dip their lights. I went for a 12w spot and 20w flood, the burn times are on their website and seem to be about right.
I considered Light & Motion but the Lumi's' seem to me to be better value for about the same sort of money. Good service from Lumicycle too and you can replace all of the parts via their on-line store.

Money no object, get a Lupine - friends have them and it's like cycling under floodlights. I have a Dinotte and they do some good, compact sytems ideal for road use - the rear light is probably the best around.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

We get issued these at work for working on the railways and they are superb.

One of the other guys here though adapted his one so it's fitted to the front of the bike. It's like riding with a car headlight on the front. Absolutly superb.

In the 50's I used a 'dyno hub' today I still use one for riding in the dark, no drag, no slip in the rain, no batteries to buy or run down, wide beam headlight, it switches on automatically at dusk and the lights stay on if I have to stop at the traffic lights. What more do you want?0
