I'm having trouble finding good information on this. I don't quite understand the designs available. I'm wondering are there friction losses to pay also? What are the lightest strongest models etc...

Chain regularly jumps off chainring on the rocky descents...

I have 3 chainrings - raceface Xcountry chainset and cranks. Also, can I get a protector to fit the big chainwheel and protect cogs on rock hits etc?

don't know much about chain guide designs, what type of riding do you do? do you want the extra weight annd like for climbs..

Protectors usually replace the bigring, meaning you run two rings and the protector...there probably stuff out there for 3 rings, but not sure how good it is. I run a e13 supercharger
  • You can get ones for two rings, ie the E.13 DRS and the bash will replace your outer-ring. The best thing to do is move to single front ring, maybe a 36, with a single ring solution as they will usually be more secure.

They can be affixed either to a specific mount, which is best if available, or to your BB.
