Hey guys....was wondering if anyone could offer me some advice based on their knowledge/experience of which fork i should put on my santa cruz bullit, (6-7" incase u didnt know). Choices are
Marzocchi 66 SL ATA
Marzocchi All mountain 1 SL
Rock shox Domain
Rock shox Lyric
Fox 36 Talas RC2
Fox 36 Van RC2

Want the bike to be fairly day riding friendly but will also get ridden for quite heavy duty freeriding and downhill.

Cheers guys

  • Sorry for a late reply, only just seen your post.

After reading the april 2007 MBUK test on big forks it seams that your best bet is the Marzocchi 1 SL as this got a 9/10 rating and only costs £469.95, however one of the best fork ratings and the one they chose as second best to the winner (which was the Magura Wotan at £599) was the Marzocchi 66 BUT you say you want the SL ATA and the one they tested was the RC2X 20mm, so it is different to what you have short listed and costs £549.99!

Also worth a look and with a better rating (9/10) than the 36 VAN is the 36 Float R.

The Domain got a 8/10 as an entry level fork based on the Lyrik (which was not tested) but the best bit is that the Domain is a lot cheaper £389.99

As mentioned above the winner was the Magura Wotan, Full of features and oozes german quality and they have had no problems after months of testing

I am sure that these forks are probably on offer on certain websites, hope this helps?

    Cheap 36 Float RC2 http://www.rutlandcycling.com/ProductDe ... 437835fe68

As for AM1SL, I reckon it would be a bit twangy for a big bike like a Bullit and has now been replaced with the Marzocchi 55 anyway.

I'd put a vote in for vanilla 36's! Mines have stood up to plenty a dh track.
  • Cheers for advice guys....they were only ones i'd looked at...am considering anything really....i know its hard to strike balance between friendly all mountian fork and one that can take a beating. I guess need travel to match the frame so something around the 140-180 region!?
  • Isnt the marzocchi 66 RC2X an 180mm fixed travel fork?

My mate has 05's I think and they are 150mm, i've managed 20 mile xc rides on the Patriot (with 36's/160mm), not as easy as on the xc bike but manageable.
