Hi all!
I was wondering that because I am thinking of building a road fixed gear bike with an old road frame, but I would like to use a nice sturdy mtb disc specific rim for the rear wheel.
Will it fit the frame? obviously I would be using a 1" or smaller tyre for commuting.
Also, what would be a good light 29er rim for this use? I was thinking the mavic tn719...
thanks

It would fit as it is a 700c rim. However, I don't think it woulf be as strong as a A719 which uses the same material but uses another 50g of it. I know you want it for a fixed and so a braking surface isn't required, but there's no harm in having one incase you want to do something different with it in future and the A719 has one but the TN719 disc doesn't."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

so, would I be able to buy any 700c road tyre (as long as of the correct width) and fit it to the tn719 or a719? or would it have to be a specifical mtb 29er "thin" tyre?0

Have a look under "dimensions" here http://www.mavic.com/mtb/products/TN-71 ... 95921.aspx and here http://www.mavic.com/mtb/products/TN-71 ... 95921.aspx and you'll see they have exactly the same ETRTO size and rim tape size so they will both take exactly the same tyres. The recommended tyres vary on the Mavic site only because it assumes you'll use the TN for mountain biking and the A719 for touring.
For a bit of info on ETRTO see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ETRTO"Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0 -
