hey guys
hopefully going down to Sideways cycles (how are they btw?) to sit on a cotic bike for a test ride
the only problem is that i think they have the soda (titanium £950) not the soul (Steel - £450). Now i am in a rare posistion that i could spend around 1200 squids on a bike (Ti frame plus a few other sundries that are wearing out on the current frame) but is it really worth it?!
I may never need a frame again if i go Ti, but then i'm no steve peat or christophe sausser so will i realy notice the difference between steel and Ti coming from an Alu kona hardtail
My bank account is in your hands guys

But like u said ur buying a frame for life. It is in my opinion the best XC bike frame material, and will last u a life time with many frames having life time warantees. Also Ti doesnt rust, and has a much better ride quality. I cant really tell u which to buy, but if ur contemplating buying the Ti i would guess u could afford it if u needed to. U only live once :P0

might as well . a ti cotic frame? sounds bloomin tasty to me.
although having said that i'd probably just buy a steel frame cos i'm tight like that.0 -
I've got a Soul and a Simple. I'd be amazed if the ride on a Soda was worth an extra £550. The Soul is more than good enough I reckon.0

The extra money buys you a lighter, more resilient and carefree frame. Though I do recommend testing it.
Van Nicholas have some superb Ti frames for about 600 quid.0 -
papasmurf. wrote:hehe are you just trying to get as many people as possible to say buy the TI.
go on do it..it is lovely frame

Are you a mountain biker or not?! Buy the titanium!
And then please come on here and write a review of it- I'm kinda thinking about the cotic soda's as well....I'd give my right hand to be ambi-dextrous0 -
I hope Tim at Sideways helped out. I'm sure he did as he's a top bloke.
During testing I actually found there was very little difference in the ride feel of the Soda versus the Soul, but that was deliberate as the Soul is a very soft riding frame and I tweaked the tube profiles of the Soda to mimic that, as the 1st prototype was quite flexy and me and the main test rider decided that wasn't what we wanted. So, it's a very comfy ride, but the most noticable difference is the weight, because it's so much lighter than the Soul is gains speed so quickly it makes you giggle. I know that's not enormously scientific, but that is what it did to me0 -

He was very useful yep, especially as it was clear that the chances of me actually buying the bike off them are negligable (its just too far away!)
Thanks for the help, i'm considering just closing my eyes and sticking a pin in a page as my method of choosing at the mo!!We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence
