FS - it's smoother. 8)Stumpjumper FSR 09/10 Pro Carbon, Genesis Vapour CX20 ('17)Carbon, Rose Xeon CW3000 '14, Raleigh R50

Inbred - it's heavier.
I'm only concerned with looking concerned0 -
FS, tis faster for me as I dont have a hardtail.Advocate of disc brakes.0

HT - I moved from FS to HT and my riding has improved so much - you feel everything your rear wheel is doing which makes line choice etc more important.
I'd only go back to FS when I feel that i'm a good enough rider to warrant it - or my spine starts taking too much abuse.Scott Scale Custom

+1 when I don't get round to shaving for x days0 -
mmm I'm tempted to add it, but I think it would spoil the outcome.. funny though, nearly 300 people have looked but not voted... is that they don't actually race XC? or cycle XC0
-
i have just converted to FS but that's with a fox rp23 shock.. so prettly much locks out with a nudge.. however going from my HT to FS gained 2lb's my hard tail is now a rigid kinesis maxlite, if i was to race again i'd choose which bike based on course, i did a spam biking 60k (salisbury plane) and that was front sus on the maxlite, yet the fasted people were on cycle cross bikes0

depends on where i am riding.

Hardtail! Been riding for 17yrs and I just can't get use to FS bikes, they annoy me!2011 Yeti ASR5 carbon: http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/5817307/

Mainly FS recently but once my Cotic is up and running will be using both (not simultansoulsy, depending on terrain!)0
-
i prefer HT. the bikes are lighter, unless you want to spend +£1500.
also with FS, you can't feel what you are riding!!0 -
HardTail.... why waste valuable effort winding up a rear shock. If I was brave enough I would go fully rigid.0
-
Always ridden a hardtail. More control, faster and a good way to sharpen your skills.
However, I have just ordered my very first full susser!0 -

I'm still loving that bike!!0 -
Never been able to afford a decent one so i ride a HT. In saying that ive had a specialized hardrock pro disc(sold) Kona caldera (snapped) Dmr switchback(sold) and now ride a Gt avalanche 1.0.
Id say i was a hardtail type of rider , and i use my bike for all duties winter and summer riding, :shock:0 -

Yeah, I have removed the rear suspension on my car until I'm good enough to drive it with full suspension although my line choices do tend to interfere with people driving in the oppostie direction!Cannondale Prophet MX0 -
I ride a HT, but its not good on long rides due to the small frame and heavy build, so a bigger, full sus with a lighter build is my next project0
-
Full susser, 140mm travel F+R with a Stable platform valve rear shock ( I dont waste much energy winding up the shocker ) Much like any decent fork!!
Would like a hardtail as well, but money too tight ( if only I hadnt sold my rockhopper in the first place, DOH :? )www.27gears.com

HT Stumpjumper (2007) for me.
Previous bike (which I still have) was a fully rigid 1997 Stumpjumper.
I just can't get on with FS - too heavy, too prone to going wrong, yet another thing to have to set up, too much energy robbed on hills.
Love both my hardtails!0 -
Do people think it's because of the cost, is the reason why ppl don't ride FS?0
-
Travis - not at all.
Cost has nothing to do with it.
If I needed to spend £4k on a bike, I would.
The whole "can't afford it" thing REALLY gets on my nerves. :roll:0
