  • yes. i cant tighten the bolt up too much other wise the crank wont go round because of the boxguide.

time for new cranks, riding your bike with lose cranks wears square hole no matter how tight you do them up they will always come lose
  • so its the actual cranks fault?

i have the same cranks as you if its from that pinkbike picture can you suggest some good ones that fit for around £80

When the cranks on the square taper BB come loose, and this can be pretty regular, if it's already happened, then the taper inside the crank tends to slightly malform, with instead of a square hole, it begins to get impressions of the BB in the edges of the square. Once it's come loose, then it will keep coming loose. The only way to get rid of the problem, is to put a new crankset on the bike, preferrably going for a 2 piece, or an ISIS setup, where there are teeth on the BB, and in the crank that meet, rather than just a square taper.

If you can't afford new cranks, threadlock and a long spanner is needed, get it as tight as, without cracking the bolt, or stripping the thread.

Really you only need to replace the side that has rounded, many bike shops have random left and right cranks left over from warranty jobs, ask around and you might find a bargain, it needn't even be the same crank so long as it fits, is the same length and is similar in weight.
  • i am going to order some race face ones how do i know which ones fit?
