hi, i was out on sunday..put the bike in the back of the car no problem got it out put the wheels back on and away i go :) , put it in the back on the way home with the wheels off got it homeput the wheels back on and it looked like the rear mech was a bit more bent back than usual :? , then i tryed to pedal it just with my hands and as soon as you start moving it it cuts down all the gears right to the bottom and gets stuck outside of the cassete  . does anyone know what this is. also when i do down a gear with it now the mech does not move and the cable just hangs down the side of the frame  .
i can post pics if needed..
thanks for all help :!:

sounds like you have damaged something.

when it was in the car it was not leant on the mech, do you think the cable needs tightening up, or should i take it to my LBS. do you need any pics ?

if the cable is going slack when you are trying to go to a smaller sized cog then it is the mech not the cable.(if the cable is slack at the meck. if it is slack at the shifter then somthing is stopping the inner move in the outer somewhere).

so between the slack and the mech there is a jam. either a dammaged outer or dirt or....
