Wheel Noise??

I'm getting a noise coming from a certain part of the rim of my rear wheel when it spins at slow speed. The noise occurs as and when the wheel reaches a certain part of its revolution and sounds like something is rattling around inside the rim! Where the noise is coming from also appears to coincide with the join but I can't see a crack.
I have stripped of the tyre and rim tape but can't see anything obvious. I've also checked the spokes, with nothing really loose - but I'm no expert on spoke tensions.
The rim is a Mavic XC717 and is only about 6 months old (built by Merlin).
Has anyone got any ideas what the problem maybe?

Could be something in the rim moving around, like a dropped spoke nipple or shard of metal.0

Yeah I thought that was a possibility and tried using a hoover to see if I could suck something out - no joy!0
