Charge Plug to replace my stolen commuter. This is presuming my insurance pays out and doesn't go through Halfords.

  • For me it has to be JMC's specialized, made famous in the Dirt video.
After that everyone wanted high riser bars and wacky coloured grips and the bike looked still looks cool in a retro way.

For me, it's gotta be a choice between this:

    01.jpg

Or the ibis mojo carbon SL (with another pic for prosperity)-

I'd give my right hand to be ambi-dextrous
  • The Ibis are feckin drool-worthy...

I do like the Seven Solas (thanks to SuperSonic for pointing them out) - so sleek and sexy

    I rest my case:

Been staring at the piccys of the Ibis for the last half hour (and I thought I loved my stumpy :D )

Dear Santa Clause what / who do I need to sell to get one

Looks like I may have to put my sig to the test. :!:
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
  • The Ibis are so gorgeous its downright irritating

I want one, I want one, I want one. I'll scweam and scweam until I'm sick

Don't think I could get one of those past the missus

    I thought I loved my marin but . . . . .
  • Cheesey its got to be said, your Marin has really caught my eye!

    Cheesey's Marin
  • Thanks man! :D

Shes changed a fair bit and new piccies need to be posted.

    But now has:

    Specialized Toupe Team saddle
    Carbon faceplate for stem
    Black Hope seatclamp
Schwalbe racing Ralph's (with go faster white stripes)
    Shimano spuds
    New grips (black)
DT Swiss 4.2ds on XTR M975 hubs
    SRAM PG990 cassette

I have to say i loved the Ibis more when i actually was allowed to pick the frame up.....i honestly was gobsmacked at how light & well balanced it was.....

I have banned myself now from when i go in Stiff i dont go in the room where they are on show because i start trying to work out how i could afford one lol.

I was wondering how i could put a Kidney on e-bay & what i'd get fro it when i decided it had gone too far lol
Arrrghhh it's worse than i thought!!!!!
  • Stif is a great shop - Its my LBS, I'll be using them for my bike build. Can't wait to get some pics to see how good it looks compared to some on here already

  • I haven't found any pics on the net anywhere, so maybe someone else can help, but I always thought that the Sbike range looked pretty fab.

They were pretty out there at teh time, but just looked so simple and clean compared to the other full sussers of the time from Marin/Proflex etc.

    Any piccies out there?

That Ibis is a thing of beauty!

Clarkson - It's not just you, I just don't "get" that Ibis at all - I'd even go so far as to say it looked ugly.

I agree with whoever voted for the new Trek Remedy - and the new Fuel EX range looks great also - nice straight angular lines and snazzy graphics.

Endorphin bikes are very good looking too, lovely finishing work.

And that Cotic Soda looks good - but then I'd say the same about a lot of titanium hardtails (and steel ones).

i am rarelybothered with the looks of a hard tail as to me, they are pretty much the same9 tubes welded/bonded together but this has to be one of the sweetest looking by far, tis clever too:

woo! someone else agrees!! i agree with the trek and also someone who said about hardtails, the hardrock looks quite pretty, as does the coiler, mentioned up there somewhere^^^.

  • Now, I'm gonna get some flak for this, I'm sure, but then again, there's mixed feelings over the ibis, so here we go! I mentioned Sbikes earlier, with a lot of google searching, I've found very little, mainly 'cos they went out of business in 1993!

Still, when I was a lad, these were bike porn! :D I always wanted the full susser, so included piccy there, as well as a second cos it's good to see one actually in working order. I'd love to find one of these to build up as a retro bike!  :D

    Full susser Sbike

    In working order!

They were just something that was really quite different to anything else, and way outside my price bracket! That made them stunning.

    Bring on the insults!

Christ Jesse, no wonder you don't appreciate Rachel Stevens!!

To be fair though its the kind of thing I used to dribble over aswell back in the day, in fact anything with that single beam look and multi coloured paint jobs on uber fat frames especially if they had an aero disc rear wheel! 8)
  • Hey, I was 15 when they went bust in 1993. Think of it like the Lamborgini Countach, at 15 it was just soooo cooool 8) and you had to have the poster on your wall. Now you know that it's a heavy ugly piece of crap that handles like a pig.

Whilst I know there are far better things out there now, I still thing it's fantastic for it's early 90's superbike excess and sexiness. :D

Jesse - There really is no accounting for taste, that bike looks like it's supposed to part of a bridge. But maybe that's the appeal?

I must be Ibis-phobic - the hardtail looks ugly to me too. Like it's made from polystyrene and designed by a graphic designer. And is it just me or is there less tyre clearance than on almost every other bike?

id disagree there chaka, the hardtail ibis looks the sex. a million times better than the full sus.
