well its now been 6 months since i've started cycling and i can well and truly say i am now over here on the DARKSIDE .now being a London black cab driver ,when i first started posting it was only natural that i would get some grief and that was fully expected and should imagine there will be still some dissenting voices
But in the imterviening(sp?) 6 months i have gone from 4 miles in 35 mins on a MTB and just last Friday 55 miles in 4 hours in the Surrey Hills on my spesh tri-cross,I look at hills now as a challenge and not a "oh sod that I cant climb that !!.I have joined a cycling club a few months ago which i must say was the best move as they have given me no end of advice training etc and have also been out on a few unofficial club runs, ready in anticipation of my first official run next month,so i have to big it up for the KINGSTON WHEELERS . i've even made the transition over to the full lycra regalia ,i know its not a pretty site at the mo,but so far i've lost 3 stone and my suit i had hand made in Hong Kong at the beginning of the year falls offf me !!!!! and finally my brain is telling me not to eat so much !!!!!
will I have the same commitment over the autumn/winter months only time will tell

HEY URRRRRRRRRRRS! i have'nt seen a thread from you for ages, i was'nt sure if you gave up after the loss of cycling plus forum! i have checked out the wheelers site and have wonderd if it would be worth me joining up, i've taken to cycling to richmond park in the last 6 months(i live in canary wharf) so its 17 miles to the gate of the park before i even start going round! i'm tempted, can you choose different rides or do you all do the smae distances?dangerous jules.0

hi DJ,
its just am case of looking on the KW forum and see whats occuring, you could put a post saying anyone for a ride this saturday and you could get 10 people saying count me in !!!!there are guys who go out for rides on different days but mainly weekends anything from 40 to 60 miles a stop here and there in places i didnt know existed(this from a london cabbie)although i've done a couple of rides on a friday they really are a friendly club and cant thank them enough !!also .going to the monday night pub session also works with meeting up and chatting about this and that
regarding RP its a case of doing whatever you want, there are no set rules
the other thing is i live in hertfordshire ,so its a schlapp to get there (took me 2 hours to get home from my ride on friday in the taxi, but thats part and parcel of joining them !!! and it hasnt put me off

Not from me you won't, well done mate! Now all you have to do is to convince the other several hundred of so of your cabbie mates to do the same and the thoughts of (from a cyclists perspective) if carlsberg ran a taxi company...etc, etc...you get the idea0 -
So this is where you also hang out is it Gezza. Business must be slow at the moment as you seem to have a lot of time to post on this and the KW forums. Maybe you are in holiday mode already.0
