Tyre Damage Advice

Hi
just been over to Penmachno and completed loop 1, i picked up a puncture of one of the down hill sections and on closer inspection found a dagger shaped piece of slate sticking out my nice new panaracer razor 2.1 tyres.

The razors are kinda brief on rubber and tread so i suppose can be expected at some point. The trouble is there is now a approx 8mm slice right at the top of the tyre where you can just see the white looking stringy binding has been cut through within the cut. I cant see the inner tube or anything like that.

anyone have any experience of this type of problem, is this likely to get bigger or can it split dramatically causing possible crash...

i did think of simply trying to glue a standard rubber patch to the underside of the tyre to help with the strength of tyre, or is this a lame attempt at saving some coin?

back in my raleigh burner days, i would have not been slightly bothered by a bulbous inner tube sticking out, cured by a beer mat inserted between tyre and tube for the weekend thrashing.

i dont know if i should just fork out £30 to replace or not? Any advice would be helpful here.

from the sound of it the tyre is gone, but i'd recommend trying a different tyre if it's a recent problem, or even contacting the manufacturer and see if they'd consider replacing it
