Hello Im adding my bike onto the house insurance and they would list a description of my bike.

Ive spent a liot of money upgrading it so what should I provide them with, the RRP or the price I paid for the bits? Probably a stupid question but thought it was worth checking out. I have also asked them what lock they recommend to use to ensure its covered.

RRP or get your LBS to value it for you with an replacement cost. (they may make a small charge for this).

Your insurer probably isn't very stricy on locks (home contents ones don't seem to be) but might want to reference this list from a specialist bike insurer as a guideline:

That only gives you a rough grading though really and any of the chain type ones wont last more than a few seconds against 42" bolt cutters but they're not very subtle to carry about.

As for valuing your bike, trickier one and you should probably ask the insurer. Some might require receipts/invoices if you're trying to cover more than the RRP of the basic bike.
