Anbody used Isostar Anticramp? I'm got suckered into buying some at the Etape village, didn't use them on the day and am a bit wary of trying them out?

Do they work? or are they snake oil.

It's surely just electrolyte drink with extra pottasium.

I doubt it is snake oil - and is probably quite decent for re-hydration - which is what pervents cramp.

Give it a go - at worst it will taste crap - at best it might boost your performance. - Isostar is usually good stuff - I used to swear by their energy drink at the gym. Not seen it in the stores for a while though..

oh i see - it;s not a drink - sorry - duff post on my part then!!

well - again, my only experience of the isostar products is positive so I doubt they will do any harm!

It's main ingredient seems to be bicarbonate of soda. Would it not be cheaper to buy some and just add a little to a normal isotonic drink, or juice, or something?

  • Yep, bicarb of soda will work. It's been used as a lactic acid buffer for a number of years, usually for short-burst events like pursuiting. It can give you the sh1ts though

Having tried most of the normal remedies for cramp(electrolytes, tonic water, bananas etc)I gave theses a go and they actually did seem to WORK.Unfortunately I have run out and it seems you can only buy these on the continent.I tried easygym.com but they were merde.

Some of the over-the counter anti-indigestion remedies will also work, again due to the carbonate buffering. "Tums" get some good press, Rennies may also work.
