is this a good starter street bike? i'm looking for a cheap hardtail to begin street on as my big hit is just too, well... not good for street at all. i have heard that it breaks down after a while completly, just wondering whether its true and could i run DJ 3's on it? i will have to get a new wheel i think though. thanks...

the Drone is not a bad starter bike but its not going to be as responsive or durable as some of DMR's higher price bikes / frames like the Rhythm or Transition series
The Drone is pretty heavy and feels clumsy, and loaded with cheap parts as well as some genuine DMR parts, the cranks look a bit iffy and the frame itself is not the same quality as aftermarket DMR frames
serious street usage would probably start killing these cheaper bits, but you get what you pay for, and serious street riders would look to spend £600-700 on a better bike
you can add a DJ fork but will need a new front wheel as the Drone has 14mm nutted axle front wheel as standard and so it not compatible with the DJ fork
might be worth looking at a BMX, you could get a very nice complete bmx for around the same money as the drone, especially an 06 or 07 model which would be discounted...check out my riding - www.robcole.co.uk Banshee Factory Team rider, Da Kine UK Team rider, www.freeborn.co.uk www.eshershore.com0 -

have ridden, have one sitting in front of me right now
DMR are not a company to sell crap, but there is such a thing as going "too cheap" which is seen in the quality of the frame, as compared to DMR's aftermarket frames (Rhythm, Trailstar, Transition, etc.)...and the original poster here asked about a street bike for riding street on :?:
you would be better with a mid range BMX for riding street than a cheap "street" MTBcheck out my riding - www.robcole.co.uk Banshee Factory Team rider, Da Kine UK Team rider, www.freeborn.co.uk www.eshershore.com0 -
