some climb..wish I had seen the stage...let´s not forget the last British winner- gottheteeshirt won the Cavodonga stage in the 1986 Vuelta.

Will Cadel Evans challenge for the GC win?

For someone who is just riding the Vuelta as a training race for the Worlds, Evans sure was fighting hard today.

Good stage though, and I thought I'd never live to see the day Denis Menchov actually attacks. Sastre too!

Perero said it takes the first week of the vuelta to get the legs good after completing the TDF, so who knows? I hope Evans wins rather than Menchov. Evans will wipe out Sastre and Piepoli´s gains in from mountains when they get to TTs eh?

Gents, you're old enought to put a damn spoiler warning on the thread title.
It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

    Sorry Timoid
I´d been reading cyclingnews for years some 14+ hrs after the race given the 8hrs time difference in my previous home, keep forgetting I am 5 hours behind now..cheers for reminding me :)

 Anyone notice in today's stage that French riders are getting up there. Not in the top positions, but in the top twenty. Perhaps there was something in their contention about 2-speed cycling. Does anyone agree?

I noticed that throughout the year. French cycling publications have been a lot less bitter than in years past, as well. I think there is something to it, as the advantages of doping are a lot smaller when compared to the consequences of getting caught than they may have been before. The problem with the accusations of "cyclisme à deux vitesses" is that the French tend to use it scatter-shot style. Quite simply, anyone who was not French was rounded up with the dopers. This year, the blatant and under-breath accusations have been replaced by a smug "told ya" sentiment. Still an improvement if you ask me.
