Hi guys
Advice please - I'm looking to buy a bike in the cyclescheme with an rrp of up to £1k.
I'm looking for a hardtail which is light enough to gobble up my 10 mile daily commute (with slicks) and happy riding trails at the weekend. I haven't really ridden off road for years so something suitable for a relative beginner.
I like the look of the Scott Scale 50.......
Thanks in advance.

Scott Scale 50 is a very nice bike indeed, good geometry and pretty nice spec. Heres another one thats got good spec and seems to have some good ratings

I was in a very similar position a few weeks ago and found it to be a very difficult choice, so many bikes to consider and compare. i finally went for a Boardman Pro not the high profile name you'd necessarily want but i very high level spec, mine weighs approx 25.5lbs, i'm by no means an expert but think you could do worse than consider the Boardman good luck with you search0

I noticed on the CRC site they say that as the Zaskar is sourced from EU the specs may be different from UK bikes....any major changes worth noting?0 -
the seatpost and headset were different but that was all I could find.
I've got the mail with the links CRC sent me at home and I'll try and post them this eve.
They delivered by parcelforce within 48 hours. It needed the saddle, pedals, handlebars and front wheel attaching.0 -
I have a Scale 50.
Not that I do it very often, but great on the road due to it's lightness and geometry.
Personnally, I struggled uphill off road, but a new (shorter) stem and riser bars fixed that problem.
So far no problems with it! 8)Craig Rogers0 -
Links for GT Zaskar Pro as promised:

Been for another ride this eve - still like it
One very minor issue - I've done 35 miles and lost one of the end caps. Both have fallen out but I spotted the first one. Going to be changing the grips anyway so not bothered.0
