I have just bought a 24 hole front hub. I am not sure now if this is a really bad idea. Will this wheel be very weak? Can I even get a rim? The rear hub is 32.

  • how about this?
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-Mavi ... er-789.htm nice strong rim, how big are you? if it is laced properly shoud be fine these rims are very strong i have the 36 hole version and they are totally bombproof i expect to wear through them before they need truing, the 24h version should build ijnto a very nice wheel, could even go radial if you want

14 stone and 6ft but weight can fluctuate lower.

They look good I might consider these. Is there anything out there less aero?
  • try a search on http://roadcomponentsdb.com/ most of the rims available in 24h tend to be the deeper ones as they are a little stiffer which makes up for thje low spoke count, persomally i would go for the deepert rim for the strength (and because i love deep rims am going for velocity deep v's for my fixie)

  • Gary - you don't want less aero at your weight/size.

The deep aero section of the rim is what gives the wheels its strength - you will note most low spoke count wheels have a deep rim.

The CXP30's are great got a 36 'er on the front of my tandem.
(just noticed the price - gulp on sjs - guess they are charging a premium as they have been discontinued for a few years)
I can second the velocity's (got one on the rear of the tandem) & 53-12 .com get them in loads of colours.

Thanks everyone I am going to keep the rear at 32 and change the front to something else that is 32.

You have all been most helpful.

    Much appreciated Gary
